Hey loves! Welcome to a new OOTD post. It's been over a month since my last one ā€” my bad. I have to get better at being consistent with my blog. It's taken a backseat to my YouTube channel, but that is going to change. I am feeling inspired to post often and share more than just outfits. With that said, let's talk about fashion lol
Today's look is all about this off the shoulder dress courtesy of Rachel Roy. If you've been following me on YouTube and Instagram, you have definitely noticed my love for off shoulder pieces. I can't get enough of them! There's something extra special about shoulder-baring tops and dresses. They instantly radiate romance, confidence, sexiness, and fun.
Alright, so let's discuss the fabric and fit of this dress. The dress is available in navy/white pinstripes in sizes 0X - 3X. I wore the 3X (22/24). The fabric is so luxe! It feels like a tuxedo suit ā€” high quality, sturdy, smooth, with minimal stretch. The website description says the dress is a relaxed fit, but that isn't the case for my apple body shape. It is fitted around my stomach and lightly relaxes around my thighs. I even wore control high waist chonies to create more wiggle room, but it didn't make much of a difference.
Thankfully there was plenty of room in the elbow length sleeves. I have large upper arms and the sleeves didn't feel tight and uncomfortable. There is elastic around the shoulders, but that didn't keep them from riding up (hella annoying).
I wish Rachel Roy's Curvy range included more sizes because plus size doesn't stop at 24. That said, I'm glad I had a chance to test out the 3X for my peeps on the larger end of plus. Despite some of my issues with fit, I still enjoyed wearing this dress. The quality of fabric is excellent and the dress made me feel confident, beautiful, and in control.
