Today is my first post with Fab 40's Bloggers, I was invited to join an amazing group of fabulously fashionable bloggers who are 40+. Yes I am over 40 yrs old, in case you didn't know. Some people think I am younger and that is great, but I have never been one to deny my age. Age really is just a number given for the years of life you have lived. Your age doesn't tell the story of the kind of life you have lived. Being 40 no longer equates with being old, heck I don't even think 50, 60 or 70 is old. Age is all about perspective, how you feel and how you live. I sure as heck don't feel 40, act 40 or some may say even look 40 (what ever that may be). The Fab 40's group is 7 bloggers who love fashion and are here to show that style is ageless. Style comes in all ages as well as all sizes!
Every month Fab 40's will showcase a style theme, this month is all white. I joined in a bit last minute, and therefore may be cheating a bit with my outfit. I literally do not own any all white clothing. This was truly a challenge for me, and did the best I could. I actually just bought this white shirt a few days prior to joining the group. I realized there was NO white in my wardrobe, with the exception of a few tees. Good thing I had at least a basic white button shirt for this months challenge. White hasn't been one of my favorite colors, because honestly I am a bit messy and prone to getting stains. Wearing all white is just attracting the dirt and stains to find me. I know white is a popular color to wear in the summer and hotter months, because it will keep you cool. I still wear black and dark colors in the summer, hot or not!
I did mange to dig out a pair of lighter color denim shorts with some white stripes to wear with this white shirt. It's not often I wear shorts either, so this theme was definitely a challenge for me. Usually I am not too comfortable showing off my legs, they are always too pale and not in the best shape. This theme was challenging for me. It made me push my self a bit to not be so critical on my self about my legs. Most women are harsh on themselves when it comes their appearance. If the worse thing I say about my legs is they are pale and a bit jiggly so be it. My legs allow me to walk every day and get me places I've never been. Turning 40 has taught to be kinder to my self about my appearance, because ultimately this who I am and what I look likeI paired the outfit with my favorite pair of slip on Vans, from the Eley Kashimoto collaboration. I've been wearing Vans since I was in elementary school. Every year my parents would take us to the Vans store and let us pick out a pair for school. Being a born and raised California girl, Vans are a must have in my wardrobe. Next month I will be more prepared and hopefully bring you a better outfit. Look out for the Fab 40's post on a monthly basis, the last Monday of each month. I am truly honored and excited to be a part of this group, hope you enjoy these post as well.
